About Cinetree

Together with the film platform Cinetree, we present film as a powerful conversation starter. In the award-winning short film Beyond Silence (17 minutes) by director Marnie Blok, the deaf student Eva, with her sister Anna as an interpreter, seeks help from dean Sandrine to discuss socially unsafe experiences with her professor. Despite the dean not supporting her, Eva finds the courage to break a year and a half of silence. With Beyond Silence, we open the conversation about social safety within organisations.

After watching the film, GELIJKSPEL engages with attendees about their role: how do you respond when someone speaks up or makes a report? What does that require of you as a manager in a difficult case? And how do you create a culture where people feel safe to have the conversation? It is also possible to involve director Marnie Blok in the session, giving participants an extra insight into the making process and the underlying message of the film.
